How this 3D skeleton was made
This 3D model is a reconstruction. Most bone shapes (145 of 232) are borrowed from close relatives and fitted to this species' size and body proportions. The bone shapes are not the actual shapes of this species' fossils. 1 bones were shaped from photos or figures of this species' own fossils. 86 are estimated.

- 3D Skeleton: Borrowed bone shapes from the template 'Ouranosaurus' (O6). The lengths of 10 body parts (head, neck, torso, tail, upper arm, forearm, hand, thigh, shin, foot) were scaled individually to match measurements from the 3D skeletal model of Iguanodon (specimen IRSNB 1536) in Dempsey et al. (2025) Biol Rev doi:10.1111/brv.70026 (CC BY 4.0). Template pose adjustments: On 2026-09-26, the tail was changed from the template's downward slant touching the ground to extending nearly horizontally (current view). The front legs remain raised off the ground as in the template. The shapes of individual bones are not from this species, but from the template species. Ornaments unique to the template species (back sail) were removed. Template skeleton source: 3D Skeleton: Created on this site. Bone shapes were traced from outlines of bone photos of specimen MSNVE 3714 in Venice, scaled to the supplementary measurement table and figure scale bars of the same paper (Bertozzo et al. 2017 PeerJ, CC BY 4.0). The 17 back sail bones were individually cropped from a side photograph of the mounted skeleton. Since the skull of this specimen is a replica, the skull was taken from the full-body line drawing in the same paper (drawn after Taquet 1976). Pose (2026-09-30): Referring to the foot placement in Figure 2A of Prieto-Márquez et al. 2012 PLOS ONE (Magnapaulia), a pose was estimated with the right front leg lifted mid-step and the neck turned to the right. Stride length, joint angles, neck and head direction, and tail sway are display estimates created for this model, not a reconstruction of actual movement or speed for this species. A few-centimeter adjustment of the entire tail position to match the joint between the sacrum and tail base is also an estimate for the model. Rather than a walking diagram of this species itself, bone orientations from a relative with a similar gait were applied.
- A per-bone table for ornithischians (horned, plated, and beaked dinosaurs) has not yet been found. Since there are no per-bone records, it is colored gray = unknown.
