The Halls Beyond the Fire
Where will people live after the world has burned?
Even after the whole world has burned, there are places for people to live. *The Deluding of Gylfi* tells us that there are many homes, both good and bad. The best is Gimle, in heaven. In *The Seeress's Prophecy*, a hall more beautiful than the sun stands there, its roof covered in gold.
At Brimir's hall in Okolnir, there is plenty of good drink. Sindri is a hall made of red gold. Good people who have lived justly dwell in these halls. At Gimle in *The Seeress's Prophecy*, too, the righteous live happily forever.
The great hall at Nastrond is woven from snakes' backbones. Its doors face north. The snakes' heads turn inward and spit venom, sending rivers of poison through the hall. Oathbreakers and murderers wade through them. The worst place of all is Hvergelmir, where the dead are tormented.
