Idunn Gives No Answer
How does Idunn answer the gods' questions?
In *Odin's Raven Magic*, the gods are troubled by signs of danger. Idunn has fallen from the great tree Yggdrasil and now stays in a valley. Here, she cannot find the peace she knew in her familiar home.
The gods give the sorrowful Idunn a wolfskin. When she puts it on, her spirit and appearance change. Odin chooses the guardian of Bifrost to go and question her. He asks what she knows about the heavens, the realm of the dead, and the world.
But Idunn cannot answer. Tears spill from her eyes. Later, as the gods sit at their meal, they ask Heimdall and Loki how their errand went. The messengers reply that they could not carry out their task.
Odin calls on them to seek new ideas during the night. He asks them to use all their powers to find wisdom for the gods before morning.
