Meet the Goddesses

What roles do the goddesses have?

Frigg holds the highest rank among the goddesses. She has a splendid home called Fensalir. Eir is the goddess most skilled in healing. In its account of her ability to heal sickness and injuries, *Gylfaginning* calls her the best physician.

Fulla wears her hair loose, with a golden band around her head. She carries Frigg's chest and looks after her footwear. She also shares in her secret counsels. Sjofn turns people's hearts toward love. Lofn helps men and women gain permission to be together, even when their union has been forbidden.

Var listens to people's oaths and the promises made between men and women. She punishes those who break their word. Vor is wise and asks so many questions that nothing can be hidden from her. Gna travels to different worlds on errands for Frigg. Her horse can travel through both air and sea.
