5-12“The Seeress's Prophecy” Stanza 64–66

The Dark Dragon's Final Flight

What scene closes The Seeress's Prophecy?

Near the end of *The Seeress's Prophecy*, the seeress sees a hall standing at Gimle. It is more beautiful than the sun, with a roof covered in gold. Righteous people live there, enjoying happiness forever.

Next, a mighty one comes from above, a ruler over all. Then, from below, comes the dark dragon Nidhogg, flying from Nidafjoll. This dragon is also called a shining serpent.

On its wings lie the bodies of dead humans. Nidhogg carries these corpses as it flies over the plain. This flight through the sky is the poem's final scene. Then we are told that the seeress now sinks down.
