The Hall of Snakes
What did the seeress see in the hall of snakes?
In "The Seeress's Prophecy," the seeress turns to a river running through valleys of poison. Flowing from the east, it is called Slid. Daggers and swords fill its waters. To the north, in Nidavellir, stands the golden hall of Sindri's kin.
In Okolnir stands another hall, where the giant Brimir drinks. Then the seeress sees a hall in Nastrond, far from the sun. Its doorways face north, and it is built of snakes' backs woven together.
Drops of venom fall through the smoke hole in the roof. There, people who have sworn false oaths wade through fierce currents. Murderers are there too, along with those who have seduced other men's wives.
Nidhogg sucks at the bodies of the dead there. A wolf tears people apart.
